Ha-Le-Lu-Yuh.
It was so nice to get out of town, and I have a new appreciation Virginia's outdoor capabilities. It was beautiful. We stopped near Shenandoah where Jody and his buddy hooked up the ropes and we all did some climbing. Shadow came too, of course. After we climbed for a few hours, we hiked along the Appalachian Trail and found a perfect camping spot just in time for sunset. The boys ate chili dogs and beer, and I munched on trail mix and wine- it was a perfect mix, and we had a great time.
One change will be made for future backpacking trips: I will not sleep in a two-man tent in between two grown men and a stinky dog again. Especially after chili dogs and beer. I'm still a lady, you know.
Enjoy the pictures. Hopefully there will be more and more to come as the weather gets nicer and our schedules free up. Thank God for Spring!

Can you see my husband?
There he is!
We got to see the sunset behind the trees as we set up camp. It really was a beaut.

Hans and I were at REI and the new thing to backpack with are hammocks! that way you don't need a sleeping pad and tent. It looks super neat, it seemed they came with a topper or some kind of net for rain/bugs. Just imagine the freedom from men/dog smells!
It is supposed to be 70 this weekend, wanna hike the AT to North Carolina?!
Dan, Jody's friend, actually did bring a hammock- great idea! And yes, I will be there, or I shall be square.
