A Festive Fourth

Swtich!
These two put me up (and put up with me) for 18 years, but last week I had the opportunity to host them in my own home for a week over the Fourth of July.  I learned a lot about these two over the course of their six days visit.
1.  Mom like Starbucks.
Ok, we all already knew that.  I guess what I mean is, Mom now actually GETS Starbucks.  A lot :)
2.  Mom and Dad groove to slow mornings.  We slept in, drank a pot of coffee, read the paper, headed to Starbucks, drank another cup of coffee, read another paper...you get the point.  It was awesome.
3.  Dad's a Thrift shopper!  I love thrift/antique shopping and the three of us had a great time searching for old shops in and around Hampton.
4.  Grammy's and Papa's need naps.  I'm not going to post napping pictures.  Just know that they exist.

Jody's parents were also able to visit for a few days over the Fourth.  Both sets of parents and I drove up to DC and completely exhausted ourselves taking tour after tour after tour (after tour after tour after tour after tour...) but we had a great time.  It was a great opportunity for our parents to get to know one another better, and I realized once again how happy I am to have married into such a cool and crazy fam.  Good times!

Mom has a monumental hat. Ha. Haha.  Hilar.
 I'm an old soul.
Or, maybe they're all just young at heart...
Nah- old soul. :)

We also witnessed a pretty wicked storm up there, complete with huge lightening bolts and um, terrifying thunder.  I love storms, but this one was nuts!  Luckily, we were under the shelter of Union Station when it arrived.  Thank goodness.
Their trip was complete with the whole 'Navy-Experience' (yay?) as we all spent a few days on Jody's boat getting tours, eating hors d' oeuvres at a reception honoring the USS Arleigh Burke, and watched fireworks from boat itself.  Cool stuff.
One of our tour guides.  I think I caught him making eyes at me once.

That's it, folks!

It was a great week. Thanks for taking such good care of us. As you can see. Dad and I can keep up with you, but can you keep up with us? We also know how to relax and take it easy. Love you, and can't wait for your visit back to Montana.
