33 week bullets

  • Jody and I attended our 'third trimester class' at the midwifery center last week.  The midwife in charge was a tad on the 'kooky' side, spoke reeeeaaal slllooow, and would have no problem describing in detail an inverted nipple and the beauty of expelling the 'life giving' organ we call placenta.  Mmhmm.  Anyway, I found this class very helpful, regardless of the fact I had to sit still and listen while not peeing my pants for nearly two hours.  The room was stuffed full of swollen bellies and Evian's, and I found myself looking around and wondering, How did we get here?  Well, okay - that whoopsy is obvious, but really.  God has a sense of humor.
  • Apparently, there's no stopping Cedar now, as she'll be here in two months, whether we're ready or not.  And I feel...ready.  I do.  And up until I am in labor and she's squeezing her way through the birth canal, I will remain calm, cool and collected.
Ha!  Or...I will continually keep a steady rotation of naps, snacks, and breakdowns.

I'm only half kidding.
  •  Cedar may be weighing in at around 4-5 pounds by now, but I haven't had any confirmation of her weight yet.  I have an appointment on Friday and will be interested to see if she's measuring a bit bigger than last time.
  • My damn sciatica has returned, and I'm not a happy camper.  Although I've gotten more used to it and can walk now, I still can't do so comfortably and it hurts to do most of my pilates exercises, so I've been taking it very easy lately.  I know that's a good thing, because I tend to over do it sometimes, but not getting fresh air and quality exercise daily puts a big damper on my mood.  I would so appreciate prayers for this back pain to go and stay away for the remainder of the pregnancy.
  • I do not understand how tv and movies portray largely pregnant women as largely hungry women.  My appetite has severely dropped, or rather, my ability to hold large amounts of food has diminished.  I am still hungry, so maybe that hasn't changed, but half a salad into my lunch and I feel about ready to burst.  This has been causing me to eat about 8 snack like meals every day instead of 3 meals with snacks in between.  My meals usually consist of apples and cheese, peanut butter toast, or smoothies.  I'm getting sick of eating the same foods all the time.  I am very much looking forward to refills of wine and the rawest of sushi.  But mostly the wine.
