With Jody out of town and the new absense of Facebook in my life,
I'm faced with the challenge of
(wait for it...)
entertaining myself.
shudder.
Mortifying, right?
Jody and I have gone back and forth about keeping or dropping our 'books, and after a talk while on the road back from Michigan last week
(...oh, I forgot to mention...we went to Michigan. It was a long drive. I have a very small bladder. It was nice.)
we decided to go ahead with the ever-terrifying click of
deactivate my account
and move on with life.
I'm being dramatic, but I do have to admit that I didn't realize how... integral to my life Facebook had become until it was bye-bye. Facebook was a way for me to keep up with friends and family, kill time, chat with Jody when he was deployed or on duty, share recipes and articles, and...you know, have eight-hundred-million-friends, which is always cool.
I haven't missed the ol' Facebook yet, but I have noticed on more than one occasion that it's often the very first thing I think of when walking through the door at night, waking up in the morning after potty-break and coffee, or any second I have to sit on the floor with the laptop. It was just...always available, and with my new schedule (going to school at home, often at a computer and working at home) I found my restless little fingers tap-tap-tapping away on facebook much too often.
So, if you've noticed my absense...here I be! Don't worry, I've promised MaSky that I will update the blog more often now that Facebook won't be occupying my time, but in all honestly, I'm hoping the lack of FB will keep the draw of the computer away from me anyhow.
Onto a few updates.
Like I said, Jody and I drove up to Michigan for a few days last week. This was my first opportunity to meet Jody's dad, little sister (Yes! I finally have the little sister I've always wanted!) and a whole herd of grandparents, cousins, etc from James' (Jody's dad) side of the family. We ate great food, played outdoor games, went four wheeling, and spent a good deal of our time battling each other over Yahtzee! and Gin Rummy. Good times. Here's a picture of Jody and his beautiful little sister, Hailey.
Unfortunately, and per my usual, I remembered to pack my camera, but forgot my camera card at home. This was the only photo I snapped all week, and it was taken on my ipod. Boo.
There really hasn't been too much happening around here. I feel as though Jody and I have landed right back where we left off, but I'm still a bit stressed in trying to settle into a 'routine'. I love and need routines, so these last few months have been a bit stressful, to say the least. Stressful, but also some of the best times of my short little life so far. Jody is a really easy guy to live with. We both take to our 'role's very well (i think) as I am a happy camper to cook dinner, vacuum a house and study all day while he's working. In fact, I like it. And, I think Jody likes himself some home cookin' and clean laundry as well. I like to think his life isn't half-bad.
I began watching Ayden this week, and despite a few adjustments we'll both have to grow accustomed to, I've been really happy with my days with him. Firstly, the kid is a stud. If I can't spend all day annoying Jody, I'll be happy to spend my days pinching the cheeks of a chubby, sweet little baby. I've only been watching him for a week, but so far I have been able to fit in some time at the gym in the morning, Study/test taking time during his morning naps, and quiet/bible reading times during nap number two, or vice versa. I do tend to get a bit restless, and I know staying at home will become more of a challenge once the weather gets funky and walks are no longer an option, but again, adjustments. As is life.
I'll leave you after I share a few of my recent 'projects'. I added a board on my Pinterest solely to add the projects/recipes/etc that I actually do try or accomplish, in hopes that I'll be motivated to quit 'pinning' and start doing. You know?
Jody and I made these for our Anniversary dinner last week. Complete with home made Sangria and a slop of steamy vegetables, they made a great (and cheap!) meal.
I've made these veggies for Jody and I a few times, and again on duty nights, for myself. The only thing I did differently was swap regular potatoes for sweet. I could live off of sweet potatoes.
Ask Mom about this dessert. Firstly, the story of my first attempt at making it is hilarious. Note: Don't assume you can do without measuring, and don't bother if you don't have all of the ingredients. :) Anyway, the final outcome was really good, but I had some real stomach problems after I gave in and had a piece, despite knowing the trouble ahead. Oops.
I also made this taco pie, which was easy and cheap, and quite enjoyable. I liked the bbq sauce with the taco seasoning, but wasn't so sure about the potato crust. I'll be experimenting with that in the future.
I leave you with make this salad.
Do it.
I have studying to do.

Haha you need to GET OUT OF THE HOUSE with him silly girl...and not just for a walk. Take him to run errands. I always got out of the house between his two naps so I wasn't stuck at home all day. He loves Target :)
I have been pinning recipes and craft. I now need to make them. Target was lonley without you today. Our Target is offering a buy your starbucks coffee and bring your receipt back and get any sized drink for 2 bucks. Venti iced moch for me today, and some personal shopping. Miss and love you.
Oh I forgot. Do your homework!
All the meals look tasty! I made the dessert too and (like you), didn't have all the ingredients. But I just substituted vanilla pudding instead of choc and added dark choc chips. Lovely. Glad you're back in the blogosphere, sister!
I gave Jody my advice when he was visiting here: Open your facebook again, have 2 friends. Your mom and Jody's mom. Okay, you could probably add a sister or two. That is all. I am sure Chris would agree with me.
